Our History

Founded in 1980 by the Culcasi Family, Rosine's Restaurant quickly became the local's spot in the Del Monte Shopping Center in Monterey, CA. Rosine's freshly made food and decadent desserts kept people coming back. In 1986, Rosine's moved to its current location at 434 Alvarado Street in historic Downtown Monterey. Known for delicious house-made soups, hearty meals, and award-winning desserts, Rosine's has built a loyal following over the years. Now celebrating over 46 years, this third-generation, family-owned restaurant run by Jim (Rosine's son), his wife Susan, and their son John, continues to be a cherished dining spot in the community.
In October 2025 they opened 'Caffè by Rosine's' in Sand City, a casual caffè featuring craft coffee drinks, a select menu for dine-in or takeout, a grab-and-go case with fresh soups and ready fresh meals, and of course, dessert. Be sure to check out caffebyrosines.com. Their revised 'Rosine's Cuisine' cookbook, updated a couple years ago, now featuring all new recipes, is available at both locations.
